Youth Leadership
Program

EXPLORE THE WILDERNESS AND DEVELOP YOUR CAPACITY AS A TEAM MEMBER AND LEADER

Outward Bound Leadership courses are rigorous, fun, and rewarding. They are designed for highly motivated people who are mature and keen to develop their leadership and outdoor skills. In fact, a youth leadership course, along with the Instructor Development Program, may be the first step to becoming an Outward Bound Instructor. Longer and more intense than most Outward Bound courses, they incorporate a learn-by-doing approach. Each course is a safe learning environment where effort leads to success. In each course, two different skill sets are emphasized: "technical" such as white water paddling, rock climbing, and wilderness navigation; and “interpersonal” such as conflict resolution, teambuilding, and safety management.

Because we have designed our leadership programs for people who may want to work in the outdoors in the future, a high level of commitment is expected on these remote expeditions. We screen candidates for motivation and fitness. Please apply early to avoid disappointment.
