Designed to provide a physically and emotionally safe environment in which to thrive, Women of Courage courses can provide a catalyst for powerful growth and change. On this lodge-based day hiking course you will begin to open up and communicate with other women survivors of violence and abuse, working together as a team and working toward your goal together while bonding with the other women within this breath-taking landscape. All of this while feeling the support of these other incredible women behind you, helping you to realize your true strength. Furthermore, mountain travel requires you to be present and grounded while these awe-inspiring peaks set the perfect stage for a week of reflection, helping you let go of anything holding you back in your past and allowing you to re-create how you envision your future. You’ll return home feeling more confident, loved and reconnected with yourself.
The trip meets up in Revelstoke, BC, and from there we will travel to the Canadian Mountain Holidays Gothics Lodge. This area is rich with beautiful hiking trails and treks taking us off the beaten path. An Outward Bound course is not a guided trip, it is an immersive experience led by you and your group. In addition to the personal journey that you undergo, you will also learn the foundations of minimal impact camping, packing for hiking expeditions, navigation and orienteering. Your course also includes a 24-hour solo experience, where you will put your new-found skills into practice under the supervision of our skilled instructional team. Often described as the most transformative part of their experience, your solo also gives you the space to reflect on earlier conversations, absorb important realizations and let go of how we perceive ourselves – leaving you faced only with your true self, and coming to love and appreciate who you really are.
Thanks to the support of our community, our Women of Courage course fees are fully funded by generous donations from a number of dedicated foundations, corporations, individuals and former WOC participants. Participants are responsible for funding their travel to and from the course location. We ask only that participants consider “paying-it-forward” to help other Women of Courage have this experience through a donation to the program.
