Run in collaboration with Wilderness Medical Associates, Wilderness Advanced First Aid introduces you to backcountry medicine and wilderness medical protocols. It is a 40-hour course over four days. Specifically designed for the unique demands of remote settings, this course focuses on three areas. First, you will learn how to treat injuries when you are hours or days from a hospital. The course highlights preventative measures for environmental challenges and over use injuries. This course can also be taken to re-certify your Wilderness First Responder.
This course has no pre-requisites, and includes Heartsaver CPR. This course is particularly suitale for Group Leaders on local excursions and short trips, or Assistant Group Leaders for more remote trips, and is a required course for Atlantic East Coast Sea Kayaking Guides (AECSKG) and Canadian Recreational Canoeing Association (CRCA) Trip Leaders qualification.
