One of my passions is volunteering internationally, which I do primarily through the Habitat for Humanity Global Village program. It all started while I was on a Habitat build in Egypt in 2009 when I realized that GV program provided the perfect opportunity to work with “like minded” people to support communities in need around the world while experiencing life from a totally different perspective. Since this first trip I have had the opportunity to co-lead teams to Nepal, El Salvador, Fiji, Tobique First Nations and Lesotho, Africa and also participate on teams to Poland, Kenya, New Zealand, Philippines and Lesotho.
I am also very passionate about working with First Nations Communities to improve the housing situation and to launch a new youth leadership program. In 2016 I had an opportunity to participate on a Reconciliation trip to a remote First Nations community in northern Ontario where I learned so much about the culture, traditions and the very difficult living conditions.
From a career perspective - after 30 years as a restructuring executive I decided that a “change was as good as a rest” and recently opened a new event venue - the Aperture Room - in a heritage building in the heart of Toronto. This keeps me busy when I am not volunteering! ☺
I live in Toronto and love to spend my time exploring the city in search of cool new places and experiences. My wife (Holly) and I enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, sailing, travelling and spending time with our cute silky terrier, Kelsey.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you as we share our wonderful Kilimanjaro adventure together. Safe travels!
