Outward Bound Canada’s National Youth Scholarship and Bursary Program is supported by a variety of individuals, corporations and foundations, making it possible for youth who come from less advantaged socio-economic and/or cultural backgrounds to participate in our programs.
Over the past seven years, support from our generous donors has provided the opportunity for over 500 under-resourced youth to attend one of Outward Bound Canada’s summer wilderness expeditions. It is our hope that we can continue to increase these opportunities in years ahead.
Outward Bound Canada's National Youth Scholarship & Bursary Program was created so that all participants, regardless of their financial situation, can access our life-transforming programs and realize their full potential.
The needs of youth are complex. Their potential is enormous, as is the potential for them to grow through the challenges and rewards of Outward Bound Canada adventures.
We invite interested individuals, foundations & corporations to support us in this endeavor through the provision of funds, which will provide assistance for even more under-served youth to participate in Outward Bound Canada programs. Outward Bound Canada Awards:
Our bursaries are awarded to individuals based on their need and in accordance with donors’ designations. That said, bursary funds are limited and, unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate all funding requests. Funds are applied directly toward the costs of participant course fees and, in select cases, travel or gear for their participation in that course. Priority is given to first-time applicants and the bursary funding pool does vary from year to year; therefore, the amount awarded will depend on the number of applications we receive and the funds available.
For more information on bursaries or to obtain an application, please contact Mary Campbell via email or by phone at 1 888 OUTWARD (688-9273), ext. 211.
Because we get so many bursary applications and only have so many funds to distribute, we strongly recommend and encourage applicants to consider raising funds for their course on their own! Click here for a copy of our Fundraising Kit to help you get started.
