Outward Bound Canada is an Ontario Ministry of Education inspected Independent School offering students, 15-years-old or older, the opportunity to earn high school credits upon successful completion of most Outward Bound Canada Wilderness courses of 17 days or longer, or Urban day courses of 15 days or longer. That means, youth can earn credit while canoeing in Algonquin Park, hiking the Rocky Mountains, kayaking in the Bay of Fundy or camping on Toronto Island. Furthermore, because most of our courses also include a “give-back” service project, students are eligible to apply these hours to their compulsory community involvement requirement for Ontario high school graduation. Credits obtained through Outward Bound Canada courses are in many cases transferrable to schools outside of Ontario (e.g. in other provinces), subject to the school’s acceptance. Please discuss credit transfer with the guidance counselor at your school.
